Grown Ass Man (featuring Nick Curtis-guitar)

from Rear View Here by Food For Thought

/

about

This song's about reaching one's 30s in this day and age as a male and feeling like both a "Grown Ass Man" and a "grown ass child wishin'", intermittently, depending on the day. I plan to die this way: "The perennial child's eye in a mind that is grown" just knowing that "none of us is here to persist all alone." It's not actually about any specific period in a person's life. It's about that forever self-negotiation between wanting to feel like a grown-up and wanting to employ a beginner's mind in the face of all that life presents oneself with.

This song features a former roommate of mine, Nick Curtis, on acoustic guitar and myself noodling around recording live drums and finger noodling melodies on a keyboard.
